Historical Theatre on the Streets!
In keeping with our mission to promote the history and culture of the
Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation
has designed this special public tour:
"A Walk Through Time" - Historical Theatre on the Streets! is a historical
walking tour with a twist! The tour features actual historical characters
(over 20 actors in costume) sharing with guests their lives in Early San
Diego. The tour will stop at many historic locations throughout the Gaslamp,
where guests might encounter William Heath Davis and Alonzo Horton in the
midst of an argument about who is the real founder of San Diego, or be offered
a little entertainment by one of Madam Ida Bailey's "staff members". Guests
might also encounter Wyatt Earp relaxing at home, a saloon owner with an
unusual way of attracting customers, or meet a few of early San Diego's
more colorful mayors. There will be lots of fun surprises for guests as
they stroll through the Gaslamp! The tour will end with a reception at one
of the Gaslamp's most historic buildings, the William Heath Davis House.
Tours depart every 15 minutes beginning at 5:30pm. Reservations are
required and cost for the tour is $20.00 in advance, $25.00
at the door if space is available. Price includes the tour, and
hors d'oeuvres at the Fiesta de New Town Celebration.
